Los Angeles, CA...March 10, 2010 - REO Speedwagon and Pat Benatar announce 15 more dates for their highly anticipated co-headlining summer tour, "LOVE ON THE RUN," it was announced today. Two legendary rock voices, Pat Benatar and REO Speedwagon, team up for their "LOVE ON THE RUN" cross-country summer tour, kicking off at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, CT on June 24th.
"We are so excited to continue to add dates to this tour to bring the combination of REO and Pat to as many fans as possible," said Kevin Cronin, lead singer of REO Speedwagon. "Since talking with Neil Giraldo and Pat about the idea of touring together, we have just been incredibly amped to get on the road and the more fans we can entertain, the better."
Kevin Cronin has said: "REO and Pat Benatar toured together in 1995 and we all had a blast. I ran into Neil Giraldo in the neighborhood last year, and we talked about getting the bands together again...so here we are. Both REO and Pat Benatar share a history of hits, a family oriented approach, and a continuing desire to rock hard and have fun doing it. We embrace and take pride in our past achievements, while we are all about growing as artists and keeping our standards high. We intend to prove it every night on stage with the 'Love On The Run' tour."
"LOVE ON THE RUN" will bring the songs of these two historic rock bands to stages all across America. Their music will take fans back to their early '80s explosion onto the Billboard charts, where both artists enjoyed #1 and Top 10 positions for the better part of the decade; and will carry on through their career with music that continues to define their excellence in song craftsmanship and performance. Edwin McCain and Keaton Simons will each be joining these two legendary acts on various stops along the tour. Additional tour dates and on-sale dates will be announced shortly.
American Express Early On Sale opportunities will be available for most "LOVE ON THE RUN" tour dates.
REO Speedwagon has teamed up with I Love All Access on the "LOVE ON THE RUN" tour to offer the ultimate fan experience, which features a variety of VIP ticket packages, some of which include the chance to meet REO Speedwagon at their shows. For more details go to www.iloveallaccess.com.
"LOVE ON THE RUN" is dedicated to raising awareness about hunger among American school children by partnering with "Blessings in a Backpack," a non-profit organization that provides weekend meals to school children in need. Benatar and REO Speedwagon hope to add to these accomplishments and help more school children along this tour. For more information, please go to www.blessingsinabackpack.com.

More than three decades ago, Pat Benatar began breaking rules and blazed a new trial for female rock stars. Pat was bold, self-assured, and independent. She was alluring but not exploitive. She was vulnerable but not weak. She was strong-minded without being hardhearted. Songs such as "Love Is a Battlefield," "Hit Me With Your Best Shot," "We Live For Love," and "Heartbreaker" became anthems for a new attitude. At the dawn of MTV, Benatar was the image of the female rocker for an entire generation of young woman, and the young men who loved them. That generation has grown up with her and others have walked down the path she helped pave. Still going strong, Benatar has been married for 28 years to guitarist, songwriter producer, collaborator and soul mate Neil Giraldo. Pat and Neil have been touring almost non-stop for over three decades. Benatar is acknowledged as the leading female rock vocalist of the '80s. During this time she was nominated nine times for Grammy Awards for Best Rock Vocal Performance (female), winning an unprecedented four Grammy Awards in consecutive years from 1980 to 1983. Benatar has also won three American Music Awards. Of the sixteen original and compilation albums released during her 30+ year career, seven were certified platinum and three were certified gold. One of the most popular performers in rock, she is also one of the most recognized and admired female artists.

Pat Benatar and REO Speedwagon, together again? If it seems like an odd marriage, learn your history: the two paired up in 1995 for a cross-country co-headlining tour that was, by all accounts, a hit. In their quest to prove that lightning may indeed strike twice, the two acts have partnered up again for "Love on the Run" an extended summer tour that will take them to arenas, amphitheaters and, yes, casinos across the country. There's even one date at a California winery.
"Pat Benatar remains one of a select few great female rock voices and Neil Giraldo one of the most underrated rock guitar slingers," REO's Kevin Cronin tells Spinner. "Listen to any of their records and you hear Pat's amazing vocal with Neil's powerful yet artistic guitar work as a perfect compliment."
We're pretty sure Benatar's camp feels the same way about REO Speedwagon. In a release about the upcoming tour, Benatar says that "it should be a blast for us as well as the audience." If they're having fun, everybody's having fun.

Country star though he is, Keith Urban can't resist the sweet sounds of '70s and '80s soft rock.
Urban indulged in piano versions of a few of his favorite tunes at a recent cover shoot in Los Angeles for the new PEOPLE Country issue, treating onlookers to an impromptu concert that included REO Speedwagon's "Keep on Loving You."
"Guilty pleasure!" laughed Urban, who good-naturedly complained as he tickled the ivories, "I wish I could really play."
Urban, who shared the true stories behind his music for the PEOPLE Country cover story, continued his playing with a medley of Elton John's hits. "I loved Elton John's voice growing up," he said. "He had almost a country sound to it."
If you are going to introduce the kids to older artists such as Journey, REO Speedwagon, The Supremes, Neil Diamond, Paul Anka and the Rolling Stones, why not go all the way and bring along the livelier recording techniques of artists from those era? Granted, some of those "classic" musicians were teen idols themselves in their time, but surely none used such amount of studio tinkering as the songs on the "Glee" soundtrack.
A cover of REO Speedwagon's "Can't Fight This Feeling" sung by Cory Monteith who plays the hunky Finn Hudson on the series" is a pleasant power ballad that thrives on its archetypal 1980s melody. Monteith's voice is pleasant but not strong enough to carry the song, ironically lacking the theatrically sentimental power of the original vocals.
